Wasn't sure what to title this post, so random letters will do for now.

Holy moses! It sure has been awhile since I posted which was when, maybe in May or June?? Crud...

To my faithful three readers, this is what has been happening in Potter-land. I plan to catch up on 1 or 2 of these things below in separate posts, but let's briefly recap for now:

1. Summer was truly grand. I was a bit of a lazy bum, but summer was fabulous!

2. We went on an EPIC vacay to Vegas. It was so fun! Happy to report we will be heading back in December for a dear friend is celebrating her "dirty thirty" there. YEE HAW!!!

3. School started July 30th and it has been over a month. I'm teaching 2nd grade and I adore it. I have the best class ever. My job is fantastic and I thank God profusely everyday for this job.

4. No kids.  Still happy about that. I know, it sounds negative, but I don't mean to be. I'm still not ready, end of story. We got a funny, cryptic fortune in our fortune cookie in Vegas (of all places):
Anywho, it was quite funny.  I know hub would rather have a kid like now, but I am enjoying every second with my hubby of just being us two. I hear life changes when a kid comes. Not sure if I want that change quite yet. It will happen...someday.

5. Hub celebrated his "29th" birthday (won't reveal his true age, lol!). I am grateful for this gorgeous, handsome man.

6. In 13 glorious days, my sweet hub and I will be celebrating 3 years of marriage. How the heck did it go so fast???

Yes, I know. I look psycho.

7. SOme serious house hunting will be starting in the next month or two. We have been waiting it out (and saving) since there is ZERO inventory and the competition is beyond fierce. Trying to not stress, as God is in control. He has the perfect house for us.

Again, to my little group of readers, I promise to update more. No excuses!!

A pinterest répéter

OKay, so I tried to be fancy nancy with  my  blog title by using French. I probably jacked it up. LOL!

Okay, so you remember my previous post: http://thewonderfulworldofthepotters.blogspot.com/2012/06/making-my-pin-realitykind-of-fail.html ? Well, I fixed my "P" and I think I had some success. Here's my little journey:

                             1. One thing that I did different was I had hubs copy our marriage certificate and make it huge. That way, I had more paper to work with. And if you notice, the certificate has super cute, French-ish borders. I also pasted the certificate sideways.

                             2. I traced some different types of "P's"

                                     3. I didn't smooth the new one when I took it (did after and it looks better), but here is the new one, on the bottom. I like it much better than the original one above it.

I think this time it is a success!!!

Making my pin a reality...kind of a fail?

Like every woman in America,

I am IN LOVE with pinterest.

However, I pin and pin till the cows come home, yet I don't seem to follow through on any of my pins. Well, last night, I finally recreated something.

This is the original picture that I pinned. It says to make a copy of your marriage certificate, glue it on a wooden letter, and voila, it will look like this:

Now, there are some problems with this pin.Clearly, its misleading. First of all, its cutesy shabby chic (which isn't a problem) but marriage certificates aren't like that and also, if you look even closer, it looks store bought and the "certificate" is in French.

Hrumph. Not to be discouraged, I did it anyway. I figured, it would be something different.
Directions: basically, make a copy of your marriage certificate, trace your initial on the back of the certificate, decoupage it on a wooden letter, and BAM you are done.

It is seriously easy and it was. Midway through my project, I realized I was  forgetting to take pictures of the process, so I don't have many. This is my ONE pic:

Some problems I ran into: My letter was quite large and my copy was too small. So, I made two copies and I fudged it to make it work.

Final Product:

I don't know that I love it. Personally, it looks weird. I was so bummed. I hung it up lopsided anyway and let it be. However, when hub got home and went into our room, He came out and said, "hey the letter looks awesome". I give him a look of disbelief. He responds with "no, really, I like it! Good job!"

Thanks babe, for the encouragement.  I'll keep it.

All quiet on the Western front...kind of

Wow, really? My last post was March 22nd? UGH.

To my faithful three readers who read this, I am not trying to ignore my blog, I just haven't had much time, EEK.

Well, some things have happened since good ol' March 22nd so let's recap:

1. WE. HAVE. JOBS. Amen, glory glory halleujah!!!! AND for the first time in almost 4 years, I actually know where I will be, well before school starts! That means I can actually enjoy my summer, set up and decorate my room in peace, and actually hit up the fun school supply sales! Thank you God!! And yes, I am learning that I am an idiot for stressing. Sorry God.

2.We are in the process of trying to start buying a house. Holy schmoly, it is cray cray!! We have been saving for a long time and are going to get pre-approved. We are DYING to become homeowners. I want this so bad. Praying that God will make this happen.

3. No baby and probably won't be happening anytime SUPER soon! Sorry folks. I really like it just my hubby and I for now. And besides, I am enjoying NOT having kids, a little too much I think. I do know that eventually, I need to get the show on the road, because well, I'm no spring chicken (hence, #4). I must say I am afraid to commit to the kid thing...okay this number is getting long, this may be another blog post, HAHA.
4.  I turned 29 on May 18th. Really? How did that happen? I still feel like I'm 16, LOL!!

5. We just had a fabulous vacay to Disneyland (so fun). In our time there, we visited the Warner Brothers Studio (HIGHLY recommend) and we visited a ton of touristy stops in Hollywood and Beverly Hills. FUN FUN FUN!!!

I think that is it for my recap. I need to stop negelcting this. Have a great day!!

confessions of a non-runner...

In effort to lose extra weight and try a new workout routine, I had decided to give running a try.

Now, if you know me, you know I don't do running. The thought of  me running is like mixing oil with water. It just doesn't mesh.

I would rather swim 2 miles rather than run a mile. Yes, I know that sounds psycho, but it's the truth (p.s. I am a swimmer, so that makes sense, lol)!.

I decided to plow on and try it anyway. I got the app "ease into a 5k" or something like that...I love the app. For those of us who aren't running inclined, this a good app that allows you to run, walk, run so that you get used to it.

Anywho, this first 3 weeks were easy breezy,  but then the runs became increasingly longer and harder, naturally.

This is how I would like to think I look during my runs:

but  in reality, I feel like this:

Hub ran with me once and said I breathe too hard and need to work on it. Um, thanks babe.

My problem is I think have the crappiest endurance known to man. I don't know how you marathon people do it. I want to be able to run miles and miles, but I feel like I clearly lack the stamina.

So...my question to you readers, what tips or advice can you give me, the non runner, so I don't quit???

Love,

rewritten...

This is definitely a re-written blog post...

I had "pre-written" a victory blog post, because March 15th (where districts are legally supposed to give your pink slip) came and went, and hubs and I were both "pinkless". Goes to show you should never pre-plan things...

because.....

UGH.

I went without a pink slip (yay God!!) but my hub got one.Honestly, I didn't see it coming. We knew they were handing them out but the number of them was low, and his principal never did the "pre-warning" talk with him. Sure enough, it was a sad Friday and I had my moment to rant about on FB but of course, in true "Shannon Potter fashion" my sweet hub didn't bat an eye and was calm and collected, unlike his crazed wife.

This is one of the reasons I love my man because he is the most calmest, worry free man I know. Thank God. If he and I were both like me, we would both be in the looney bin, LOL

Well, despite hubs' positive outlook, our pink news cast a pensive mood on our Friday. We were planning on going out to downtown Sac, but instead we said "screw it" to our healthy eating kick, and  splurged on shakes and fries (I know, we crazy right?!?! ) and watched some movies. It was actually perfect.

The next morning, we woke up feeling more positive and refreshed. We have been through worse before with our jobs (try both being pink slipped) and God has brought us through it. I am confident it will be the same again. Every year we go through this stress to get our jobs back.

I am a little bit nervous, but I always tell myself, it could be worse.

a recap....

So, I suck at this! Holy sheesh, I really have neglected this blog! Part of me has because I really don't think anyone reads this besides maybe 1 or 2 people (thank you to the 1 or 2 people! LOL) but I figured if no one reads this, this really could be like a journal into my life that I am sure I would love to reminisce about later.

I say let's do a recap of what has gone on in the last few months...

-Potter and I have had a pretty darn good year as husband and wife. I can't believe we have been married 2 1/2 years already. I love my hub so much =)

Some big things....

-Well, as most of you know, our dog baby required a crazy, expensive surgery (he tore his ACL). We call him the million dollar dog (because honestly, it felt like it cost that much, lol) and he now has a new leg. I am happy to report our baby is doing great and fine!

- I know some our curious about our human baby status, lol. Obviously we aren't preggo and honestly not looking to start in the super near future. Why? Well, plainly put, I am not ready yet. I am super happy and content just him and I. I just want some more time. I do realize he and I aren't spring chickens ( 41 and 28, respectively). Don't worry, it will happen...eventually.

-Jobs...I am super knocking on wood as I say this but it looks like we MAY NOT be getting pink slips...neither hub or I have been spoken to by our principals (usually happens by now) but once the 15th comes and goes (that is when our district HAS to give us an answer), we will for sure know and then we can really celebrate.

-House...hubs and I our saving our pennies because we are hoping, praying, crossing fingers and toes that we will be able to buy a house this fall. We are looking to buy in the Elk Grove area. I am so excited at that thought of that....ahhhh Lord, please let it happen!!!!

I think that is it for now....I am loving life, and all the amazing people that are in it
