The Potter Legacy

Well, it's an end of an era! 

About 2 weeks ago, the last Harry Potter premiered and it was a sad day in my Potter world.

Let's begin my journey...

About 10 years ago (YIKES!!!!) I was a college freshman and just heard about Harry, thanks to the movie that was coming out. It was always popular, but really was starting to explode. I went to a private Christian University and there was some controversy with the movie. Many believed that it was the work of the devil, etc. etc. For me personally, I like to decide about things on my own, and NATURALLY, I read the books that were out in .2 seconds and saw the movie with my friend, Kristen Albright. When I realized people were make a big brouhaha over absolutely nothing, I had to laugh. The series is amazing!!!

Throughout the years, I went to the bookstores late at night to get the books, I would go the midnight premieres, and I was the expert on all things Harry Potter. Heck, I married a Potter, I was that devoted, HAHA. I always joke with my husband that his last name was the reason I married him (obvi it wasn't, lol!).

The series was written beautifully and so many have fallen in love with it and it made a huge fan out me. I look forward to passing down the books and movies to my future little ones.

Thank you Harry, it was a good run.

Hub and I love to do day trips. We really try to go to places where we can take our dog child Zeus. We decided to go up to Angel's Camp and Columbia. We have been a few times, and we thought this time to take my mama. I am very fortunate that my mama and hub get along very well. She absolutely loves her son-in-laws and would probably get them away with murder, haha!

When mom arrived, we packed a picnic lunch and made our way up. Angels Camp was definitely fun, and I did some antique shopping (well, didn't buy anything). We then took my mom up to Columbia. It was so fun. The weather was beautiful. Columbia, is a fun Gold Rush town and has so much history. It was a blast! We also got a lot of compliments on Zeus, and I was definitely a proud mommy. About a month ago, I have discovered that I have a true, genuine love for antiques.

I don't know if its the natural wear and tear of it, the history behind it or the fact that these objects have lived through different decades,  but overall, I am fascinated by it.

However, my cheapie side isn't feeling the same. To buy these beautiful treasures, you have got to spend the moolah, which is understandable. Especially being laid off, I need to be careful and not spend where it isn't needed. Needless to say, its a bit of a battle with myself, lol.

Well, today hub and I decided to hit up good ol' Lodi. We went to downtown and hit up some stores. I didn't spend a whole lot (again, that is good) but I bought these two, fun little wares for 12 bucks total. Yep, I rock (please ignore the big black lines, I cropped the pics and it came out like this. BOO):

At another antique shop, hub discovered these Star Wars read along books. While this may mean nothing to the average person, you must understand hub is the BIGGEST Star Wars fan known to man. He has original stuff from 1977 in mint condition (sorry boo, I'm sorta revealing your age, lol) that is worth a lot of money. He has oodles of Star Wars collectibles, so this was perfect to add the mix. However, we won't dare open them as that will make it lose its value, lol (again, please pardon the black craziness, lol):

So today is Father's Day. Not an easy day for my family and I, as we miss our precious Daddy everyday. I decided for this blog to put up a some pictures of my amazing Dad. I love looking at pictures of him, because it brings back the best memories!!! Dad was truly an amazing, fantastic father who was a goofball but had the biggest heart. I was very, very blessed to have him for 22 years of my life. He is greatly missed and we love him so much. Happy Father's Day, Daddy!!!!

So...if you don't know me well, you should know that I have very silly, strange and random sense of humor. My friends and I have tendency to laugh at the stupidest, most random things. This video on the bottom is an example of that. I forgot who showed me this, but it seriously the most funniest video ever. Take a look, have an open mind, and laugh away....

The Potter's wife has been feeling quite crafty lately. I'm so loving being on vacay so I can hone my skills. I have been making jewelry (yes, I am still planning on doing an Etsy shop. I am just trying to stockpile so I have a variety) but I came across this fantastic idea:

Basically, you take a wooden letter, get this fantastic glue substance called "mod podge", and decorate how you want. I bought some scrapbooking paper, traced the letter "P" (for Potter obviously) and cut it out. I then mod podged the wooden letter, then put some on the back of the paper and then basically glued it down. Here is the result:

I felt a little shaky ( not a naturally crafty) doing it but I am sure as time goes on I'll feel more comfortable with it. I planning on making another small "p" and grouping them together on the wall. We'll see how it goes =).
