Our Story

It all started in the spring of 2005. It wasn't a good year for me. I had just lost my dad to cancer and through it all, I wasn't handling the loss well at all. I casually dated a bunch of "frogs" (to put it nicely) to cope. After realizing how stupid this was, I decided to give up on dating all together.

Shannon and I became long term substitute teachers for my sister's two friends, who were both out on maternity leave at the same exact time. I remember meeting Shannon like it was yesterday. We met on our way to lunch during our lunch hour, and we were in our friend Brian's truck. I hadn't noticed him sitting in the front seat, but our friend Teresa introduced us and Shannon shook my hand. That was that. I immediately thought he was INSANELY hot. I was a little taken aback. However, I decided dating was not for me at the time, and left it at that.

As time went on, Shannon and I slowly started getting to know each other, but JUST as friends. If anything, I give him a hard time to this day, because he was VERY standoffish towards me. I thought he was such a snob! Turns out it was because he didn't know how to be around me, considering he was friends with my sister for years, and he felt a little awkward. Also, there was another huge part of why he was standoffish...we are 12 years apart! At the time, I was almost 24 and he was 36. Interesting.
After awhile, I broke past his "snotty" exterior (LOL) and we became good friends. That's the part that I love about us, that we had a good friendship before it all started!

As fall came, we realized we had feelings for each other, and the rest is history! God TRULY knew what he was doing when he put us together! Shannon is truly the perfect match for me! We complement each other beautifully, and he is amazing!

On July 5th, 2008 Shannon and I went on a day trip to San Francisco. We grabbed a picnic lunch and went to the Lands End trails, which is basically the gorgeous cliffs and trails right outside the city. It's truly a magical place! We decided to eat on the side of a cliff. I could tell Shannon was nervous, and after sharing things from his heart, he got on one knee and proposed. It was amazing!

After over a year of planning, saving, and more planning, we got married on a beautiful, sunny day on September 19th, 2009. Our wedding was not over the top or crazy fancy, but it was beautiful, emotional, and special. I think of our wedding day often and I can't help but smile! Our day was perfect!

I couldn't have asked for a better life partner. It has been one wild and fantastic ride. We have had our ups and downs but I couldn't ask for a better man to do life with!
